Welcome to Snæfellsnes

Arctic Canvas is a creative retreat space and artist residency in West Iceland, located on the south side of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.

Surrounded by views of Snæfellsjökull glacier, the Atlantic Ocean, mountains, and ancient lava fields, it offers an inspiring setting for artists, researchers, mindfulness practitioners, and small groups. Located beside Snæfellsjökull National Park, it is approximately 2.5 hours from Reykjavík and 3 hours from Keflavík International Airport.

Our mission is to provide an environment that supports creative work, reflection, and engagement with the surrounding landscape. Through artist residencies, retreats, and workshops, we offer the time and space to develop ideas, deepen a practice, conduct research, or simply spend time immersed in a unique natural environment.

​

In 2025, the area was designated as Iceland’s first UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, recognising it as a model for sustainable living where people, nature, culture, and creativity coexist in balance.
